A hot dog is one way of eating sausages. A whole loaf of bread or sandwich with a sausage inside is called a hot dog. It has nothing to do with the animal dog itself; it's just a name for bread.
When eating hot dogs, you can pair them with many kinds of toppings. There are other variations of hot dogs. The one with cheese added is called a "cheese hot dog", or simply a "cheese dog". The one with chili sauce is called "spicy dog". The first two types that are all added are called "Spicy Cheese Dog". A fried hot dog coated with cornstarch and with a small bamboo stick stuck in it is called a corn dog. Due to the influence of different dietary habits in various regions, hot dogs are made with different ingredients. Traditionally, Frankfurt sausages are used.
